I don't really know anything about flashes, so I can't give you any recommendations on the Speedlite. You know you can do macro with your kit lens, right? The reverse macro technique gets above life-size magnification (at 18mm). The only thing I know about the equipment you listed above is that the 7D is an incredible camera. My dad has one, and whenever I use it, I feel like I could conquer the world

1.) The turtle is naked (and more than likely, dead). It's home is in the burrow.
2.) The robot is doing the robot. After all, I'm sure robots will one day have a different, more human-like dance to do
3.) It's the brightest after you put a fresh pair of batteries in it
