Canon 50D
Tamron 10-24mm wide angle

The more images of this I share, the more I want to go out and shoot it again. Astrophotography can be seriously addicting. I'm by no means a professional, or even experienced at it, but it's a lot of fun. I don't have the equipment necessary (like a tracking mount) to take the best photos of stars, but I do what I can. Used a high ISO and a long shutter speed to gather the light of the Milky Way (unfortunately, the long shutter caused the Milky Way to blur a little since it rotates across the sky). Adjusted the "curves" setting in Photoshop and removed grain using Topaz DeNoise. Very pleased with this result. :)

Please tell me what you think! 8-)

You have used many flirters to make the picture clear...but what without them? I mean I'm trying to hunt down I good place for observing stars for quite a while, and one of my "dreams" is to see galaxy, and a lot of stars like on your pic. Is this possible without any equipment to sees this ? (more simple: What did you see, before taking photo?)

And of course I'm just amazed with the photo ;) I love stars...  *.*

Wow. This reminds me of when I went to West Texas to the McDonald Observatory to see the Milky Way. I love how you took the picture, helps me remember a moment where I was just in awe with the universe and how gorgeous it was.

Hee I saw the Ring Nebula through a telescope!

How bad was the noise before you used Topaz DeNoise? How good's the software? I tried taking a photo of the milky way once, when I was out on an isolated island and the stars were incredibly bright, but the amount of noise was terrible :( I couldn't see the milky way at all, just blue, green and red spots. And I'm not good at denoising my photos :( Haven't quite worked that out yet ^^; I was only at ISO1600, but the Canon Powershot G10 is notoriously bad with low light. Maybe that's why :hmm:

It takes some work, but it can be pretty useful if you do it right. It's pretty good at removing the "color noise" like those red and green spots you were talking about. A bit more difficult to get rid of banding but it can be done with some practice :)

Couldnt have placed the milky way any better, it looks like smoke coming out of the chimney. Love it!
