Witness the power of nature...


Found this little pine growing right on the edge of Falling Rock Canyon west of Rapid City, SD. Good luck reaching adulthood, little buddy! Really crazy in the first place that something can sustain life out of the crack of a rock. I have a feeling that that will ultimately lead to its own demise, however. Eventually its roots will grow strong enough to break the rock from which they grew out of and... crack. The name "falling rock canyon" is solidified The question is... will it make a sound if nobody is around to see it?
