A brisk wind sweeps freezing snow across golden grasses as low evening light hits Bear Butte near Sturgis, SD. It's a really strange formation, sitting completely apart from the Black Hills.
This scene was really unique, but absolutely no fun to shoot! Wind chills had to be below zero at this point. Too cold for comfort, but I was able to crouch in a snow drift for a few minutes and wait for just the right gust of wind to sweep snow across the ground in front of me
It's too bad we couldn't have had the nice weather on this
spring break trip that we had on our last
one in 2012. Instead of highs in the 50s, highs were closer to the 30s with lows in the teens and single digits. Regardless of the weather though, we came away with some really unique shots! Want to see more of my work? Check out the links below!
