This was our first stop after finally getting close to the storm's meso. What a beauty! Loved the inflow feature near the top of the meso that was trying to coil around (believe at this point it was actually weakening, as 5 minutes prior that feature was much thicker and more surface-based). Within the next 60 seconds, this storm would go on to produce a dusty tornado right on the front side. A very photogenic supercell, and you can't complain about the terrain of the sandhills! This is the most astonishing picture from all the set, I believe. The contrast between the fire-ish sky beyond (it really looks like breathed fire), and the sea-like clouds above, PLUS the grass witnessing the amazing battle of water against fire.. Man, I love it.
