It always seems that the feedback you get from bird images doesn't quite equal the effort that you put into them. We have to drive about 2 hours just to get to the wildlife refuge. This comes after weeks of monitoring bird counts and deciding when will be the best day to go. No matter how few comments/favorites these get though, I will continue to take them. It's our national bird and it's a really humbling thing to see.

Yea.. nice.. we are fortunate they are on the comeback trail around here. There's a bunch that nest on the Housationic River upstream from here.. not far away at all. When I lived in Alaska you would see them , and goldens, all the time... they're magnificent

Next time you are in Wichita during spring time, you should go to the lake behind the Twin Lakes shopping mall. We have had to young eagles showing up every year and building a nest in one of the trees. You need a really long lens to get a close up though. They have yet to produce any babies. Can't wait for them to lay some eggs!

Nice shot. Looks like a young one; it's just maturing, by the few white contour feathers it has left. I love seeing bald eagles just gliding over the lake while my family's fishing. I still remember one time in Wisconsin when my cousins and I watched a pair in a short courtship flight. I was probably the only one there that knew what was going on, but it was still cool.
