Softly Stormy by FramedByNature Softly Stormy by FramedByNature
Canon Digital Rebel XSi
18-55mm kit lens
3 shot HDR (-2, 0, +2)

Not all storm systems are dark and dreary. This distant storm, illuminated by the dwindling sunlight, had a pink glow. The world around me glowed of a deep reflected orange. Very surreal. Had to get a shot off before all light was lost, so I didn't have time to search for a more creative foreground. Chose this nearby tree and framed it under a cloud (that seemed to glow purple).

Please tell me what you think!

Great pic! I love the occasional storm that creates this kind of color in the sky.

The lower clouds (being hit with less light) glowed purple, whereas the upper parts of the storm became pink

Wow... I wish we had more stuff like that happening near Chicago. Every once in a while some really cool happens, but nothing THAT colorful.

Very nice. Great purple.

There's something very American about it; I'm trying to figure out just what element makes me think that.

Perfect title! Look at the clouds between the power lines... They look like they separate the colors in increments.

Wow! All of your storms are so impressive. I wish. We just get a really muggy hot atmosphere, then grey skies and then torrential rain.
