Since Chris and I made the drive down into central Colorado after basing ourselves in Estes Park, we decided we might as well hit this iconic location- Maroon Bells. A little over-photographed and touristy? Yes. Something I've always wanted to photograph? Also yes
We got there the evening of the 26th and shot the Bells with a thunderstorm developing overhead at sunset. Sat through some small (not quite pea-sized) hail and got a rather cool timelapse. Couldn't find any open campgrounds or affordable hotels for the night, so we decided to sleep in the car just outside of town off the road that leads to Maroon Bells. Glad we did, as it saved us a good chunk of money and made the short 5-10 minute drive up to Maroon Bells even easier in the morning 
Got there just in time around 5:30am before all of the "good" spots along the lake shore were taken. Have so much more to share from this trip, and even some more stuff from around Maroon Bells that isn't of the Bells themselves... but for now, I leave you with the iconic image of Maroon Bells in full fall color
