Canon Digital Rebel XSi
Tamron 10-24mm
HDR panorama

As we stood around in the fields taking photos, the storm began to near. Soon, this "whale's mouth" shelf cloud swept over us, revealing some fantastic textures and colors under the storm. Had to do a panorama for this one because not even 10mm could adequately capture all the beauty ;)

Please tell me what you think!

Nice clouds and squall!
I know what you mean by the 10mm, or in my case,18mm. Somehow, you just can't shoehorn the sky into your lens sometimes. :giggle:

Oh yeah, 18mm was even more bothersome. Huge difference between 10mm and 18mm, but... it's still not enough to frame everything =D

All the shot are pretty good, but this is my fav. I love all the colour. Almost looks like you've painted the sky blue.

Thank you very much! I can't choose a favorite... I'm stuck between this one and "The Beast of Green" simply for the structure. I think I like the composition of this one better though =D

We were on the edge of the south west side of it. Then we made the poor decision to keep heading East. Got stuck in the hail, downpour and wind :P

Hoped that storm was going to produce a tornado but it didn't. Oh well, got to see the crazy colors. :D

Yeah, we followed it east as well. Wish we could have blasted south (to get ahead of it, where it was dry in front) but it caught us.

I love it, it's great how there are buildings there to put everything in perspective. It makes everything seem so insignificant.

I have a question though, is it always stormy where you are? You have a lot of storm photos and it just seems to me like you have stormy weather all the time!

Thank you very much :)
It storms like this fairly often somewhere in the Midwest region, probably every few days or so. Whether we get to photograph it depends on how far away it is and how much gas money we have. I live in Omaha, NE, and we have a chance of storms every few days or so. However, getting a storm like this is pretty rare. Last time I saw a beast like this was back in 2008
