What a fun shoot this was! Biked down the trail to a small "forested" area in search of more Ambush Bugs (found them!
). What I wasn't expecting to find was this colorful jumper, Paraphidippus aurantius.
Like an orange body with white spots and an iridescent patch of green on its head and down its abdomen.
He kept running at the camera during the whole shoot, so I had to figure out some way to calm him down.
Realized spiders are usually a lot more docile when they have food in their mouths, so to show my gratitude for letting me shoot him for so long, I took him hunting. Perched on a stick, I would position him close to unsuspecting flies that were perched on leaves. After the first couple attempts failed, he climbed back on the stick to go for another round. He finally pounced at the right moment and caught his meal on the third attempt!
Please tell me what you think!
