My mom and I found a baby robin laying (relatively) helpless in the yard, about 20 feet below a nest that she had apparently fallen out of. With no way to get her back up to that nest, and not liking her chances while grounded, we salvaged another nest left in a tree in the front yard (vacated by another family of robins a couple weeks prior) and put it on a sturdy, reachable branch in the tree of her original nest. The mother had no problem finding her and was feeding her young within the hour. Operation robin rescue was a success, as within a week she flew the coop and disappeared I'm sure for a while the backyard robin pair was just confused when their "home" grew from a one-story one-room to a split-level
