Caught these two Japanese Beetles up to some naughtiness in the garden this afternoon

I've tried shooting these a couple times, but this is really the first shot where the colors/focus turned out right

I'd go back out to shoot more... but it's hot. Probably have to resort to waking up early the next few days in order to avoid the heat

Bug love can be so beautiful! Seriously! Have you ever seen the Documentary "Life in the Undergrowth" with David Attenborough? One of my favorites! Anyway, one of the most beautiful scenes is of some type of slug (can't remember the specifics) mating.

So many jokes about Japan that I... must... leave... alone! Gaugh!

These things sure don't look that colorful with the naked eye. It's pretty amazing how the closeness brings out the iridescence in their shells.
