Dynamic Sunset Strike by FramedByNature Dynamic Sunset Strike by FramedByNature
And now introducing, the most dynamic lightning strike I have ever taken! You've gotta admit, the colors in this one are fantastic. It's like an entire rainbow of color, all originating from the lightning. The texture of the clouds also blows me away. This shot was taken just after a sheer cloud had passed over, so the textures were sweet! And to finish it off, we've got the silhouetted horizon ;)

Please tell me what you think!

Phenomenal!!!!!!!!!!

Have you ever seen a multi-colored lightning storm? About 5 years back, in Austin, TX my husband and I witnessed a storm where the lightning was causing the clouds to glow all different colors....pink, red, orange, blue, purple. It was crazy!!!!!!! It felt like "Close-Encounters of the Third Kind"!!!!!! I don't know what or how it did that, but it was beautiful!

woah, this is the best shot!! How quick are your reactions to photograph lighting!! LOL

Thank you! You have to be pretty focused in order to be able to react fast enough. I just stare blankly at the sky and the instant I see a flash, I press the shutter. Usually you can catch one of the return strikes (the ones that appear after the initial strike, making it appear to flash on and off).

That's beautiful! The colors are really nice with the clouds, and you can really see the dips in them and everything.

Lovely lightning capture. It would be a bit easier to take it in if you limited it to say 1000 wide so it easily fit on most monitors.

Much better! Now it can all be seen at once and it's just shy of my monitor (17") window in height. It's a lovely capture. There is a lot of noise in it but considering what you were shooting as contrasty as it is that is to be expected until "they" get digital better at details and dof. Nicely done.
