Description

Day 28 of 365

Where to start with the story behind this photo? Well...

*GeorgiaPeaches gave me the idea of taking a photo of myself jumping into a puddle (thanks honey!). I figured that would work, could have some awesome results, why not try it?

Got on my bike and rode around looking for a good puddle. I was hoping to find one at a new location (maybe a playground) but I didn't make it there. Since the sun was low, I decided to turn back and get to the Kiewit Middle School puddle before I ran out of light.

The bike ride was horrendous. Probably walked it half of the time because I couldn't ride it over the piles of snow on the sidewalks. Piles of snow blocking the sidewalks at street corners where I had to cross. On the sidewalk itself was an icy, bumpy texture, packed down by others who had walked on the sidewalk. Sometimes I rode on that, sometimes I rode on the mud/snow in the grass (felt like I was trying to bike through wet cement).

Anyway, a mile or so of that and we can skip ahead to the shoot. Set the camera at the edge of the puddle, 10-second self timer with a 10-shot burst mode. I hoped I would get it on the first shot, but it took maybe 10 jumps before I got something I liked. 10 jumps into a puddle of barely-above-freezing water from melting snow, soaked up to my knees in front and all the way up my legs in back. Shoes soaked, socks soaked. Bike home, change into dry clothes, edit photos, and load to deviantArt.

The end product is you seeing this photo.

Just wanted to share what goes into my photos sometimes :XD:

Please tell me what you think!
