Played around with water and paint today, trying to capture a cool color "explosion." Didn't get anything that great, but there's definitely some potential there.

How did you do this? Did you simply throw paint into water and shoot it?

For the "color explosion" you're going for try food dye it works really well and dissipates much better than paint.

Me and my friend would poke our paintbrushes in the water and get these same swirling effects... and it kind of distracted us from our art homework... but I've always wanted to get a picture of it, though I don't have the right glass for it. You did a spectactular job of catching the effect!!!

u know, i saw this and thought they were people. THen reading your description, I started thinking how we tend to anthropomorphize everything we see.

Pretty neat. I thought these were wisps of smoke, not water and paint.
