Day 237 of 365

"Two photos in the same day? Has he gone mad???"

Well, sort of. I recently discovered that somewhere along the line, my photo-of-the-day numbering fell one number behind. Don't worry, I've taken photos every single day, that I promise. I'm guessing at some point back in that May-July period where I posted rather sporadically, I accidentally skipped over a date and never posted it. Well, I'm too lazy to go back and search for it (the date/time were screwed up on my camera at the time, so I'd have to rely on my memory... which is patchy at best :P). SO, here you go! Today is a two for one deal =D

Now, about the actual photo...

This was taken behind the Weber Fine Arts building on UNO's campus. A while ago when my sister and I were touring the building, we noticed a little balcony on the second floor. Tried to get out there, but the door was locked. I tried again today after class, hoping that the door would no longer be locked. It was. However, this time I noticed a small doorway/set of stairs to the left leading down from the balcony. Exited the building and found this to be the staircase that connected to the balcony. Had to walk through a bit of a garden to find it. I'm guessing this stair case went unused and abandoned because they never connected the sidewalk from the stairs to the parking lot. Not 100% thrilled with this composition but it will do for today. Wish that stupid pipe wasn't there.
Another cool thing about this location... the balcony has an overhang, and a decent view of the school radio tower/clock tower... might have to revisit this area for some lightning photos ;)
Or maybe in fall, when the leaves start to change. Or winter, when snow coats the steps and railing. Yeah, I'll be back here sometime or another :P

The only problem with vines like this, that cling right to brick is they will start to break down walls. Stuff will start to crumble off. Faces of bricks, pieces of the mortar, it begins to be pulled out with the chemical attack of the plant, and the sheer weight. They can be very destructive, so I would never plant one near my house.

Yeah, those vines can seriously screw stuff up. They must not be too concerned though. Nearly every face of the building has at least some patch of them :o

I think what happens is people like the look, but don't really know all the consequences.
I saw my neighbour's garage falling apart...that was all it took to convince me to never plant it.

I actually like the pipe being there :] It contrasts with the leaves so well it sort of makes the beauty of the nature around it pop. Good job :D
