Day 228 of 365

Seems like there haven't been as many fuzzy jumping spiders around this summer... or maybe I just haven't been looking hard enough. Found this guy outside on the brick side of the house, waiting for bugs to flock to the porch light. Out of a bazillion shots of this guy, I decided to share this one because it shows something I haven't seen before on this species: fangs. Slightly discomforting when the spider you've been shooting for half an hour starts stroking his fangs with his front legs lol. He never threatened to use them, may have just been cleaning them. Must have just been bored since he had been temporarily removed from his home for an hour.

Obviously this was not shot on the brick wall where I found him. When I shoot insects, sometimes I will put them on a leaf or twig and carry them into the sunlight to make them easier to shoot. It's perfectly safe to let this species crawl on your skin (despite his little show of fangs), but I wanted a green background to complement his orange fur instead of my pale skin lol.

I'm pretty fond of jumping spiders. Which is strange, because I'm NOT a fan of most other spiders, they freak me out. Jumping spiders I like though, there's something about them that's just cute to me.
