Hey guys, guess what? You don't need a good camera to take photos of lightning. That's the biggest myth out there. This was taken with my PowerShot. Use a low ISO (especially if the bolts are close), half-press your shutter to focus the shot, and wait. When you see the first hint of light, click the shutter! It's that easy =D Of course, a good lightning storm helps too ;) Sorry about the noise. I ISO'd up a little since many of the bolts were slightly obscured by rain.

You're my favorite deviant to watch. I like the photos AND the comments under the photos. I can't wait til the next lightning storm so I can try to take a picture of it :D

Aww, thanks! So nice of you to say so :) I've been thinking about making a lightning tutorial. I've been awfully busy lately, but maybe I'll find the time to do so this winter so everyone can be prepared for spring =D

My lightning shots were taken by my Olympus Stylus Tough 8010. I caught mine by using continuous shoot, I just held the shutter down and waited. I think I took around 4,000 pictures but I got some lightning! [I'm pretty amateur, but it was pretty cool to capture lightning.]

Nice! The only thing I hate about the "constant shooting" method is that strikes always seem to occur between shutters. I have terrible luck with that. Plus I hate sorting through gazillions of photos =D
