Day 159

Description

Day 159 of 365

Took this near El Dorado, KS on June 9th. We sat in Marysville, KS for most of the afternoon, hoping for storms to fire. After a while, we realized that the only show in town was going to be a storm that was already churning away... 150 miles to our south. I've never really been a fan of leaving an area of good parameters in hopes of getting on a storm and still having it look good when you get there. I'm glad we did though. Had it been up to me, we probably just would have sat near Salina, KS and watched a little LP storm try to become photogenic. Luckily when we got to the El Dorado storm, it did look good and was in decent lighting as well. Although it lost its defined hook echo (really surprised it didn't drop a huge tornado based on how it looked on radar) it was still quite photogenic in person. We watched this evolve into a massive shelf cloud and called it a day once it was too dark to shoot without lightning. All in all, a good chase considering we could have seen absolutely nothing!
