Wasn't in the mood to edit and post old storm images, so I'll tease you with something more recent... a snowflake on a CD ;) Really fun to shoot, and certainly challenging (as with any macro). I wanted to get just the right color spectrum behind this flake, which required positioning my camera at an angle where the flake lied at the intersection between the warm and cool colors. If you shoot solely on the warm side (with yellows/reds behind it) you can usually manage shutter speeds of 1/160th when you ISO up (I was at 2000). When you shoot over cooler tones, though (blues), shutter speeds drop drastically to about 1/40th or 1/30th. Speeds like that are incredibly hard to deal with when shooting in the middle of a blizzard with shaking hands. So, I opted for the slightly warmer colors on this one. Certainly a lot of potential with this snowflake macro method, so you can expect more shots like this in the future :)

Sounds like it was a tricky shot, but it really paid off!
