Since the storms began to race away, taking us farther form home, we decided to drop the chase and head back for the night. Unfortunately, we dropped the storm shortly before it went on to produce twin tornadoes. As far as we were concerned though, it had been a good night. A chase relatively close to home, where we got to see several tornadoes: [link] and a little lightning: [link] . On our way back, we stopped to shoot the lightning in the updrafts of the storms as they distanced themselves from us. Looking from west to east, you could see three individual updrafts of three tornado-warned storms flickering away. It was incredible sight. The storm framed here was the westernmost one. It's updraft looked a little shriveled, but it was still warned and dishing out plenty of lightning. Whenever there was a CG (cloud-to-ground) bolt, it would be blood red due to the haze of the atmosphere.

Please tell me what you think!

See...this is why you wouldn't want me with you on a chase--I'm ALL about the lightning  Maybe that's why I haven't caught a tornado yet (I've chased storms that produced tornados) I'm always stopping to shoot lightning :camera:

Oh well, you do it all very well, Evan. I always love to see what you're up to in the summer

Pretty photo! I love the colors and composition. It looks real scary and surreal. The raw power of nature is revealed. Great job.

I love the colors in this shot. I'm a bit jealous though, we don't get decent storms around here on the West coast. >_< So I guess I'm getting my fix of storms through you. Lol

Again, love the colors. The silhouette adds a story to it, what ever the story may be, I don't know. All in all, fantastic shot. :D
